pril is without
doubt one of my
favourite months
t o b e o u t s i d e,
e i t h e r a t t h e l a k e, a t t h e c a r p
farm or in my garden. The
marginal plats are bursting
with fresh growth, the dawn
chorus is at its very best and
m o s t i m p o r t a n t l y, t h e c a r p
are becoming increasingly
a c t i v e. S t e a d i l y r i s i n g w a t e r
temperatures and increased
day lengths certainly trigger
fish to start moving around
their home and although it
can be cool at night, fish
are quick to seek warmth in
the days.
I ’ m a g r e a t f a n o f si n g l e
h o o k b a i t s a t t h i s t i m e o f y e a r,
and although I like to have
s p o ts p r i m e d, I ’ m a lw a y s
looking for an opportunity to
fire a single at showing fish,
so setting up with rigs I know
w i l l p r e s e n t , su c h a s a h i n g e
or chod is key
