As the weather rolled in,
conditions turned savage —
40mph winds and heavy rain
battered the lake. Almost
immediately, carp began to

quick bite on the first afternoon.
Over the three days, I
landed eight carp in total: a
couple of upper doubles, a
c o u p l e o f 2 0 s , a 3 2 l b l e a t h e r,
a stunning 35lb 10oz halfl i n , a n d o n e o f t h e l a k e ’s o l d
residents, ‘Stew Pot’, tipping
the scales at 42lb 10oz.
