have to trust your
instincts – and for Dan
Barber, that belief led
to a truly special capture!
Joining a new syndicate with
one fish firmly in mind, Dan
set his sights on the venue’s
standout common – a fish nearly
10lb bigger than anything else
in the lake. With a high stock of
smaller carp, getting through to
her was never going to be easy,
so Dan spent spring and summer
putting in the groundwork
rather than chasing bites,
listening carefully and building
a plan for the colder months.
As late autumn and winter
arrived, progress began to
show. A couple of spots started
producing consistently, and
the last two trips delivered a
better stamp of fish. Dan even
mentioned to close angling
