Swan la ke: I fished S w a n
l a ke for a few seasons, it h e l d
a l ot of big fish includ ing Da v e,
T h e box common and t h e
P e rfect co mmon all weig h i n g
w ell over 50lbs. The l ads o n
t h ere were brilliant! It wa s n ’t
a place for the faint hea r t e d
a s some of the windu ps we r e
b r utal but the fishi ng w a s
bank called the causeway as
I had seen a few decent fish
feeding off a small gravel spot,
with that rod fishing I started
to feed mixers ten yards out
I soon had Dave troughing
them right under my washing
l i n e ri g su sp e n d e d a b o v e h i m
a couple of swans with their
chicks decided to get in on the
s e cond to none. Altho ug h I
d e arly wanted to catch Da v e
b u t more importantly I wan te d
t o catch h im off the su rf a c e I
l o st count on how man y ti m e s
I ’ ve had him feeding o ff t h e
t o p and should of caugh t h i m
a f ew times but bein g a b u s y
l a ke I would often get h i m
f e eding only for the win d t o
g e t up and blow th e mix e r s
i n to some other angl ers s wi m
a n d Dave follow them a n d
h a ppily feed there with m y
n e ighbour watching o n wi th
3 rods on the bottom it wa s
s o frustrating at times . O n e
w eek whilst fishing the gar d e n
s wim I set up a washi ng l i n e
r i g fishing to the no f ish i n g
action and Dave happily fed in
amongst them getting pecked
off the swans every now and
t h e n I d e c i de d t o s t a y c a l m
and just keep
feeding the
s wa n s u n t i l t h e y h a d e n o u g h
a n d m o v e o f f t h e n D a v e su r e l y
w o u l d b e m i n e. Wi t h t h e s w a n s

stared in disbelief how could
I get a one toner on a washing
line rig? Surely it had to be
a d r o p b a c k ! A He r o n h a d
took off and got wrapped in
my line and dive bombed the
area right between Dave and
t h e s wa n s D a v e s p o o k e d o f f
and the male swan climbed
