I had crossed the cree k i n

K i ngfisher for the first tim e. I
s t r uggled like mad that f i r s t
y e ar but salvaged my year w i t h
landed my first 50Lb common
b u t t h e sc a l e s h a d o t h e r i d e a s
as they settled on 49Lb 12oz.
It was now time to move on
and back to Kingy it was
f o r a s ta b a t c a t c h i n g L u c a s
and hopefully my first 50Lb
common.

t o grips with Kingy th at y e a r

8 or 9 trips. The big c om m o n
‘ L ucas’ had gone past t h e
5 0 Lb mark in Kingy and t h i s
k e pt the dream of my first 5 0 L b
c o mmon very much al ive a n d
a possibility with every b i t e.
I n the mean time I had lan d e d
b o th the big commons f r o m
m y local syndicate lake, T h e
C a rp societies Farriers L a k e.
F i rst up was Scar at 48Lb 4 o z,
a fish that had been 50L b i n
t h e past. Then a late au tu m n
c a pture of Stu’s com mon l e f t
m e thinking that I had fin a l l y
m y l i f e. It ’s f a i r t o s a y t h a t
K i n g y wa s v e r y k i n d t o m e,
I had finally sussed it and
reaped the rewards of a lake
that was fishing well. In
t we n t y m a g i c a l n i g h t s f i s h i n g
t h r o u g h t h e y e a r, I m a n a g e d t o
r a c k u p 3 6 c ar p f r o m 3 6 b i t e s .
This included an incredible 24
t h i r t i e s a n d f o u r f o r t i e s t op p e d
b y t h e b u l l d o z e r a t 4 6 L b, a
common carp that went on to
r e a c h 5 0 L b n o t l o n g a f t e r.
I dabbled on the complex over
t h e n e x t f e w y e a r s c a t c hi n g a
few more forties from Swan
but my next session of note
c a m e d u r i n g a t r i p i n Ma y 2 0 2 3 ,
when I was convinced one of
the commons was going to
