initially a rather uneventful
fight as I drew the fish toward
the net within a few minutes,
but as it came closer to the
net, the size of the fish became
apparent, it was a good one
for sure but which one? The
fish hit the surface for the
first time; I could see that it
was a very decent common,
I dragged the common over
the net cord and I tried to lift
the net up around the fish,
but the net was getting stuck
o n s o m e t h i n g u n d e r w a t e r,
I c o u l d n ’t l i f t t h e n e t u p !
The common was very quick
to take advantage of the
situation as it turned on to
i t s s i d e, s h o w i n g m e e x a c t l y
which common it was. As it
slid back out of my net and
into the lake – it was the lakes
big common, a fish known as
“white tips” due to having
white tips on its tail making
it easily recognisable and
suspected to go over 50 lbs.`
