Well when I returned fro m h o m e , h e wa s l i ke , “ B o b , m an ,
I have just seen an abso lu te t a n k o f a c a rp sw i m m i n g o u t
towards the deeper water u n de r n e at h t h e j e t t y t h a t go es i n to
a T-shape.” Well I never us ed to f i sh t h e de e p e r wa te r. T h e s p o t

a n d it’s off a slope for lau n c hi n g b o a ts t ha t ru n s f ro m i n c h e s
d e ep to around 6ft where I f i s h th e n d ro p s o f f to 18 f t o f f o f a
l e dge and then out to 30f t p as t t h e je t ti e s . T h e re ’ s a f l o a t i n g
j e tty in an L-shape that th e n g o es o f f i n to a T- s h a p e .
W h e n h e t o l d m e t h e f i s h w e r e o u t n e a r t h e d e e p e r w a t e r,
I was not too keen on putting a rod there. I never really
fish there, as it’s over 18ft deep and has very smelly silt
that lies on the bottom. I normally only fish one rod in the
square in the shallower water due to the snags in the water
so I can see where I’m fishing to make it safer to land the
fish. There are endless amounts of shopping trollies, bikes,
m o t o r b i k e c h a i n s a n d e v e n a c a r i n t h e w a t e r, s o t h e s n a g s
are unreal, and the fish know where to go once you hook
one. If I ever fished two rods, it would also be the kiss of
d e a t h , a n d I w o u l d n’ t a c t u a l l y l a n d a n y f i s h , b u t i f I f i s h e d
one rod, I would land them. The plan was to put a rod on the
fish we had seen in the shallower water and then just drop
a solid bag down in the deeper water where he had seen the
bigger fish, so that’s what we did.
