but it was one he had just stopped selling, so he convinced me to
use Chocolate Malt. I wasn’t happy when I made the bait up, so
I went back to scopex / golden syrup. This was my third year on
it, but as they say, if it isn’t bust…
I made the milk base into small chops, as I didn’t need to fire
them far, nor did I want them to roll down the slope. I also used
a filler, and my staple here was hemp, maples and tigers. I would
watch the area cloud up so was confident that the fish had found
my spot, Not that long before the start, I went back out to the
spot, and the bottom was getting ripped up and felt hard.

June the 16 th came, and I baited my spot and put a few handfuls
of the particle mix in, just outside the tree in Brute’s Corner. I
knew that this was their normal bolthole when pressure was
on the lake. Andy, Chris and Jan turned up just after first light.
After the normal greetings, Chris said, “Have you put any bait
down in the corner? The gin clear water had a heavy cloud in it.”
