about early morning and I
h o n e s t l y t h i n k i t ’s a m a g i c a l
t i m e o n a l a k e t o b e a w a k e,
especially when its calm.
The mist rolling off the water
while looking for signs of
feeding fish in the middle of
a patch of bubbles is always
the picture in my head of
what heaven should be when
that day comes to us all.
The time was 06:15 be f o re
t h e left-hand rod wa s fin a l l y
a way again, a very p owe r f u l
f i s h and one I could not s t o p .
T he powerful fish had ma d e i t
t h rough the gap between th e
t w o islands and by th e l oo k o f
t h e direction of the line it w a s
a t least ten yards past the po in t
o f no return. I just cou ld n o t
s t op whatever I was attac h e d
t o , it was unbelievable.
I could see the line cut t i n g
t h rough the corner of the rig h t h a nd island and all my f e a r s
c a me true when the lin e we n t
completely slack. I could not
b e l i e v e i t , I do n ’t t h i n k I h a v e
ever been so royally done by
a c a rp i n a l l m y f i s h i n g d a y s .
H o w e v e r, I w a s m o r e g u t t e d
that I had left a rig in the fish
I wa s p l a y i n g.
Fishing is a strange sport
r e a l l y, I h a d a g r e a t 2 4
hours and caught arguably
the best-looking mirror I
have ever had the pleasure
of catching and although
incredibly happy with what
I had caught. There was
potential for improvement.
