A guy named Martin who I’d met on the draw came by with his
barrow and asked how I had gotten on. He had lost a decent
f i s h i n a s w i m c a l l e d ‘ B u s S t o p’, w h i c h c o v e r s t h e o t h e r s i d e
of the island and is a popular swim that has good spring
form. I then made the decision to move again to that swim,
had a lead around and found some spots. That night, I heard
some fish crashing between the channel of the island and
t h e b a n k , b u t o n c e a g a i n m o r n i n g w a s h e r e a n d I h a d n’ t h a d
a bite. I still had two more nights left and was determined
t o g e t t h e f i r s t f i s h u n d e r m y b e l t . I h a d n’ t g o n e h e a v y w i t h
t h e b a i t , i t t h e t e m p e r a t u r e w a s s t i l l q u i t e l o w, s o o n l y p u t
out a few pouchfuls of chopped and whole boilies with stiff
