on a spot with zero disturbance

Before I knew it the day
h a d a r r i v e d, a n d w e l o a d e d
Betty the van and we set
o f f. I s t i l l d i d n ’t k n o w D i s s
that well and I still chuckle
to myself to this day on how
c l o s e D a r r o w Fa r m i s t o t h e
h o u s e, I k i d y o u n o t i t t a k e s 4
m i n u t e s d o o r t o g a t e.
Harry opened the g a te,
a n d I drove in to a spac i o u s
s t one chipped car park w i t h
a beautiful small lodge at t h e
b o ttom which I will go i n t o
m ore detail later a s i t p l a y s
q u ite a vital role to the st o r y.
The lake itself was dug in 2016
a n d c u rr e n tl y a r o u n d 3 a c r e s
i n s i z e wh i c h i s c o m p l e t e l y
fenced off to keep out any
potential land predators. What
really impressed me though,
was each swim commanded a
f a r e a m o u n t o f w a t e r.
T h i s i s h e lp e d b y h a v i n g 2
c e n t r a l i sl a n d s t h a t h a s a g a p
of around 18 yards separating
the 2, giving the carp easy
a c c e s s t o t h e w h o l e l a k e. I t s
always exciting seeing a new
l a k e f o r th e f i r s t t i m e a n d I
absolutely love getting that
r e a d y b r e k g l o w o f a d r e na l i n e
as the gear starts flying out
t h e b a c k o f th e v a n .
As it was just a short day
s e s si o n I d e c i d e d t o tr a v e l
light, this resulted in just my
rucksack and my rod bag as
all nets, slings and unhooking
matts are provided by the
fishery and besides, in reality
t h i s m i n i t r ip w a s m o r e j u s t
sussing the place out than
a n y t h i n g e l s e.
