my net . Crazily, it was ano th e r d e c en t s i ze d f i s h aro u n d m i d 3 0 – this really wasn’t the s es s i o n to l eave my s c al e s a t h o m e !
I had to pack up and head h o m e , as my wi fe a n d I h ad a we e k ’ s
h o liday booked in Menorc a. A l ove ly we ek wa s h a d , b u t I ’ m
n o t going to lie – Swan wa sn’ t fa r f ro m my m i n d !
A week had passed, and I wa s b ac k d ow n to Swa n fo r a n o t h e r
4 8 -hour session before retu r n i n g to wo rk . L u c k i ly, I m a n a g e d
to get straight back into th e O a ks sw i m. S i n c e my we e k away
o n holiday, I think the Oaks wa s f i s h e d q u i te a l o t by va ri o u s
a n glers and with this in m i n d I d i dn’ t p i l e i n l o a d s o f b ai t . I
o n ly put out 3 kilos of D yn a mi te B a i t s M a r i n e Ha l i b u t Pe l l e t s
a n d C ompleX-T boilies. I al s o p o s i ti o n ed my ro d s s l i gh t ly
d i fferently, as on my prev i o us s es s i o n , I n o ti c e d t h ey l ove d
fe eding on the back o f the s p o t mo re s o t h a n a ny wh e re e l s e.
T hey were constantly fizzi n g th e re a n d o n ly f i z z e d o n an d o f f
o n the closest edge of the b a i t . W i t h t hi s i n m i n d , I p u t my l e f t
h a nd rod to the back of th e le f t h an d s i d e o f th e sp o t .
Again, the night was qui et . T h e c arp s ta r te d fe e d i ng o u t i n
t h e pond just on first light , a n d w i th i n an ho u r t h ey we re ove r
my spot and really fizzin g ove r my l ef t ha n d ro d . I t h o u gh t
my left hand rod had to go , b ut aga i n i t wa s t h e ri gh t h a n d
ro d! This fish had a dif fere n t i d e a a n d j us t ri p p e d l i n e f ro m
my clutch as if its life dep e n de d o n i t! I s u s pe c te d th a t a l o n g ,
