h a d a take like it in a long t i me ! I wa s wo r r i e d a b o u t l a n d i n g
t h e fish, as the weed in th e B a c k B ay i s me ga a n d had c a u s ed
a few anglers problems la n d i n g f i s h . T h a n kf u l ly s h e wa s s o o n
i n the net without too muc h bo th e r.
Now I don’t know what I’ d t ro d i n l ate ly, b u t i t was a n o t h er
c h unk going 39lb, anothe r ni ce o l d m i r ro r. I re a l ly c o u l d n’ t
b e lieve my luck of late, a s th e re a re a l o t o f s m a l l e r f i s h i n
Swan that could have easi ly p i c ke d up my ho o kb a i t s ove r t h e
l a st couple of weeks.
Back to work, and I was already desperate to get back to the
lake. After my success, I just felt I needed to make hay whilst the
sun shined. Being self-employed, I can work what hours I like,
and I had five days’ work booked in for the Monday to Friday
and planned to work silly hours each day to get finished earlier
in the week. Finishing work midday Thursday, I was straight
down to the pond, and I took the wife along with me. Squeezing
two bedchairs in my one-man bivvy was fun! I felt a blank was
on the cards just because of the amount of success I’d had lately.
Not only this but I’d treated myself to a few new bits, including
a new net and camera, and I imagined it would take a while to
christen a new camera! There were a good number of fish in
the main lake again, so I set about setting up in the Oaks again.
The swim hadn’t been fished all week, so I put a good helping
of bait out there again – 4kg of pellet and 4kg of boilie. As I’d
put so much bait out , I felt a bite would be slow the following
morning, so I put both rods to the back of the spot , as this is
