him to bring a rod this time, as they were sheeting up again
on the open water spots! When he arrived, we both cast a rod
to the area, put a few baits out with the stick, and I was away
again within a few minutes with another smaller common.
We did the pics and had a coffee and a few laughs as we both
watched the activities in front of us, both willing my pal Matt’s
rod to go for all his efforts. We’re both family men and only had
an hour before we had to go. Then as we watched the spots,
there was an eruption in the shallow water followed by a bow
wave and a big patch of fizz, and then Matt’s clutch started
clicking as it lay on the floor besides us – brilliant! It gave a
great scrap before I netted a little breeze-block common for
him, which actually made my morning! We packed up with fish
still there in the swim, but we’ll save them for another day.
