The swim I chose is one I›m fairly familiar with, so disturbance
should be minimal, and a flick out with a bare lead went down
with a mighty crack onto gravel. A few casts either side indicated
that it was surrounded by thick/sticky blanket weed, but the
spot was big enough for two rods. I opted to fish with a simple
bottom bait rig. This was made up from Fox Edges components
with 7ins of Fox 25lb Camotex soft dark camo with the coating
stripped back to half and inch from the eye of the hook, a piece
of Trans Khaki hook silicon to trap the hair and a size 5 Fox
Medium Curv hook – simple but effective. The hook bait was
one of my CC Moore 15mm Live System hard hookers that I have
been glugging in the new Northern Special liquid for a month
now, topped with a piece of plastic yellow corn.
