diagnosed

Prostate
cancer and was preparing for
the prospects of surgery in
q u ality of the members t h a t
f i s h them. This bein g t h e
r e ason after all these yea r s I
w as still attracted to re-j o i n .
The reason I hadn’t b e e n
o u t fishing much of late w a s
b e cause back in 2023 I w a s
h i t with a double blow of b a d
n e ws, in January we we r e
t o ld the other lake I fis h e d
“ S hotgate Angling Club ’s l a k e
“ r eservoir” was to be drai n e d
d o wn and filled in!!!! I’d b e e n
a member there since 2 0 0 2
a n d had been acting fish e r y

Skipping on 2 years to the
p r e s e n t d a y, i d f i n a l l y g o t
all this out of my system
a n d h a v e b e e n c a n c e r f r e e.
Since this I’ve just started
to get back out fishing again
p r o p e r l y. L a s t Tu e s d a y Se p t
2nd 2025 I arrived at the lake
at 6am meeting two other
good friends Andy and Jon, I
was planning on dropping in
behind Andy as he was going
b u t i t wa s r ai n i n g a n d I d i d n ’t
want to put pressure on him
to pack up in that so I opted
to have a walk and have good
l o o k a r o u n d, I w a s s o g l a d I d i d

out long in a swim called the
