A week of night shift work
m e a n t I w a s n ’t l o o k i n g t o
get to the lake unil well into
the early hours of Saturday
m o r n n g w h i c h j u s t w a s n ’t
myself I best be packed up
and outa here by 12:50 sharp!
Pretty down in the dumps
and feeling sorry for myself I
looked up at the sky and said
out loud “come on Jon please
my ole mate give us a whacker
will ya boii”
No more than 15 mins later
at 12:30 the left hand rod
going to cut it!! So a few
strings were pulled and
I managed to get Daniel
Purewal to cover my Friday
night shift, getting down the
lake at 03:35 Friday morning
instead I managed to get the
plot and thankfully I did!
Saturday evening/ night
was spent chewing the fat
and celebrating the life of
o u r m a t e J o n n y M a c, m a n y
drinks were consumed and
n u m e r o u s s t o r y ’s s h a r e d .
The next morning was very
quiet across the whole lake
not much activity anywhere
which is often the case on
w h i t e, a b i g r a i n s t o r m w a s
due to hit at 13:00 so I told
burst into what can only
be described as the most

I think iv ever endured! I
lifted the rod and the fish just
d i d n ’t s t o p ! R i p p i n g b r a i d
from the clutch at a pace I
c a n ’t e v e n d e s c r i b e m y f i r s t
thought was this must be fowl
hooked in the tail, little did I
know a battle was about to
commence that I shall never
forget! The power of this
fish was honestly something
e l s e, b u t e v e n t u a l l y a f t e r
what seemed like an eternity
