on visiting the lake everyday
looking and baiting it but

him recover from his ordeal. I
d i d n ’t g o m a d w i t h t h e b a i t I
found one to two kilos a day
was enough spread around the
l a k e so t h e d u c k s d i d n ’t f i n d
it all and the carp got their
t a le out of the water, I wa s
w atching from the tree w h e n
h i s buzzer screamed. Wh a t a
b a ttle he had, it was to uch a n d
g o as it was inches fro m t h e
n u merous snags and wi l l o w
b r anches but Jamie playe d i t
w ell and I netted it first ti m e,
i n the net it looked bi g I w a s
e x pecting a low 30 at best b u t
i t was wide as well a s lo ng. . . i t
w eighed 36 lbs on the no s e ! A
r e al whacker for our area a n d
w hat a pre tty fish. I to ld Ja m i e

h i m promise me to ‘no t te l l a
s o ul’ until I had ca ught i t a s
w ell.
This cracking old carp re a l l y
s h a r e to o . I w a s f i s h i n g m o s t
days now after work even if
I only had a couple of hours,
i t wa s b e t t er t h a n n o t b e i n g
t h e r e.
T h re e w e e k s o f i n t e n s e
angling later I finally got my
c h a n c e. I h a d d o n e t h e n i g h t
b u t se e n n o t h i n g s o p a c k e d
away and went home to sort
out some orders then came
back at midday and decided on
t h e b o g s i d e o f t h e l a k e. I u n d e r
armed a couple of choddys
out by an overhanging willow
j u st o n t h e e d g e o f t h e d e n s e
p o n d w e e d, s a t d o w n a n d h a d
a v i o l e n t ta k e, I w a s b e n t
d o u b l e, g i v i n g i t m a x i m u m
strain as it stripped out line
