I
arrived at Llyn Ca-TyNant fishery in Wales
with 3 nights at my
disposal. I was buzzing
for this trip, it was my first
time back since early May. The
first 2 nights passed without so
much as a liner, on the second
morning I finally had a take
from one of the smallest fish in
the lake, a mid 20 scaley mirror.
Through the night I had been
hearing fish at the other end
of the lake, so I packed up first
thing in the morning and moved
swims. I had seen one show the
previous day in the margins
so that’s where I placed my
first rig. The area was weedy
so I attached a Gardner weed
rake to the end of my Twistlock
landing net handle and raked
a clear spot before lowering a
12mm Yellow Northern special
pop up and a small scattering
of boilies and pellet over the
top.
There was an area of open
water where I had seen a
number of shows at first light,
so I managed to find a small
clear spot on top of a shallow
hump right where they had
been showing. I put a couple of
kilos of bait on this spot.
The day and night passed
uneventfully but at first light on
the final morning of my trip, the
BigCarp 87
