Another lake came to my
a t t e n t i o n a t t h e s a m e t i m e,
a n d i t wa s o pe n i n t h e c l o s e d
s e a s o n . It wa s n ’t t o o f a r f r o m
H o l y f i e l d ’s an d h a d a s t o c k o f
trout along with other species
including a good head of carp
present, again with fish up to
s t ock were singles, do u b l e s
a n d maybe a 20 or two.
While I was fishing on t h e
b a nk, wh ich was ad jac e n t
t o the cottage owned by th e
S i mmons, I would h ear c a r p
c r ashing and jumpin g ou t o f
t h e lake in the cottage g ard e n .

r a cing and thinking of t h e
s i ze of these ‘unknow ca r p ’ ,
m ade me really tempted t o
g r ab my rods and net, j u m p
t h e fence and see what wa s i n
t h e lake, however I refrai n e d
f r om temptation and al wa y s
a r o u n d t h e 20 L B m a r k . T h i s
l a k e wa s ru n b y a g u y c a l l e d

The Lake I fished was about
8 or 9 acres and was square
which you could drive around
n e a r l y t h e w h o l e l a k e, w h i c h
m a d e g e tt i n g y o u r t a c k l e
t o y o u r s wi m a l o t e a s i e r n o
barrows in those days.

and managed to catch quite
a f e w f i sh u p t o a r o u n d t h e
1 8 L B m a rk , w h i c h w a s f r o m
