p i t to prebait with 2-3 kgs o f M ai n l i n e Ce ll a n d p e ll e ts c a rr i e d
a c ross the fields and Spom b ed o u t , a l l be i n g d u m p e d o n to my
n e w spot . I couldn’t wait fo r t he we at h er to p l ay ba l l , an d i t
d i dn’t take long at all. Just o n e we ek l ate r, a b i g s o u t h e a s te rly
was due in, and his was wh at I n e e de d ! I m an ag e d to b l a g t h e
a f ternoon off work and hea d ed st ra i gh t fo r t h e B l u e L a g o o n .
I arrived mid-afternoon and fo u n d a n ew m e m b e r f i s hi n g my
p rebaited swim… I’m not g o i ng to li e ; I wa s d eva s t ate d ! I wa s
g o ing to go home for a p ro fe ss i o na l s ul k wh e n t h e c h a p i n
q u estion moved pegs – wh at a re su l t I t ho u gh t , g e t i n t h e re ,

I dropped straight into th e b a i te d sw i m a n d f l i c ke d th re e
s i ngles out to the spot at aro u n d 2 0 ya rd s ’ ra n g e , a l l f i s h e d o n
t h e ever-faithful stiff hinge ri g s wi t h a 1 5 mm d i a m o n d wh i te
p o p-up topping it off. Th e l ea d s d o n ke d d ow n re a l ly n i c e ly,
b e tter than they had done a we ek ag o , i n di c a t in g s om e th i n g h a d
m ost certainly been feedin g th e re ! G a me o n ! As th e a f te rn o o n
d ragged itself into the eve n i n g, t h e wi n d wa s g e tt i n g s t ro n ge r.
I t was really beginning to h a c k i n to my l i tt l e a re a a s t h e
weatherman had predi cte d, a n d i t l o o ke d s ava g e ! S o me t h i n g
j u st had to happen! A goo d f i s h nu t te d o u t to my r i gh t ove r a
s i milar depth of water I wa s f i s h i n g i n , s o t h ey we re h e re a n d
by the looks of it , and feed i n g to o . I eve n tu a l ly d r i f te d o f f to
s l eep that night thinking a b o u t a ll t h e B lu e L a g o o n c a rp a n d
j u st what could be lurking w i t hi n t h e d e p th s o f t h i s p i t , a s i t
a l most most certainly hold s s o m e s p e c i al un c a u gh t wh a c ke rs
