20 minutes of casting out I
had a walk up the bank to a
l a d I k n e w, w h o w a s f i s h i n g
with his dad (who was deaf
and had limited speech).
After a chat, I returned to the
concrete bankside where I had
reach it, but the drop was too
much and it was evident there
was no chance of me reaching
it this way on my own, so all
of a sudden I was grabbed
by my legs and dangled over
the river by my feet being
held onto for dear life by my
friends dad; which allowed
me to reach my rod and save it
placed my rod after casting
out, to find that it was in fact
missing!! I immediately felt
at a loss as to where it could
h a v e g o n e. Wa s i t t a k e n ? ? I
went back to my friend and
h i s f a t h e r, e x c l a i m i n g t h a t
someone must have taken it!
In seeing my distress they
walked back with me to my
casting out area and I was
tapped on the shoulder by
m y f r i e n d s f a t h e r, w h i l s t h e
gestured to the water area
below the bank (which was
a steep straight drop off the
concrete bank, about 5ft
down) and there was my rod
floating close to the bank! I
leaned over to see if I could
f r o m a w a t e r y g r a v e, a t w h i c h
point I was pulled back up
the bank by my feet with my
rescued rod in hand!! When I
got back onto my own feet, I
was taken by surprise by my
rod actually hooping over and
the reel handle starting to
spin backwards!! Whatever
was on the other end was
not giving up easily! What
seemed like forever (more like
5 minutes) a landing net was
slid under the fish, (by the
rod savior) which revealed to
be a beautiful silver Common
Carp, weighing in at a scale
spinning weight of 4lbs; the
